MERINO DE VALDÉS THE PLACE WHO WE ARE OUR WOOL CONTACT

PENÍNSULA VALDÉS

Península Valdés can be easily recognized on a mapamundi. This might be considered as circumstantial and slightly relevant feature, however, being the consequence of a highly exceptional shape and position, reflects in a unique natural environment. The first regulations aimed to the preservation of this environment came out in 1970, and since then, a cluster of reserves extending all along the coast of the San Jose and Nuevo gulfs was created.

At present, the management and preservation units of this cluster are:

  - Área natural protegida península Valdés (ANPPV)
- Parque marino provincial Golfo San José
- Reserva faunística Punta Norte
- Reserva natural Caleta Valdés
- Reserva natural turística Punta Delgada
- Reserva natural turística Puerto Pirámide
- Lobería Punta Pirámides
- Reserva faunística Golfo Nuevo
- Reserva faunística Isla de los Pájaros
- Reserva faunística Punta Loma
- Monumento natural Ballena franca austral

Each of these units is managed in accordance to a particular program that establishes the activities that can be performed within it and the procedures that should be followed to carry them on. In 1999, the area has been designed as a World Natural Heritage Site by the United Nations Education and Science Organization (UNESCO).
